COMMUNITY WORLD CUP

With the influx of new migrants to Britain. Bradford saw a visible increase in many members of our community. SCAR decided to host a  7 a side mini world cup at Manningham Mills Sports & Community Association. The criteria for entering a team was either you or your parents had to have come from the country you were representing. We limited the teams(countries) to 16. We had teams from Asia(Pakistan,Palestine,Kashmir and Iraq) Europe(England,Italy, Serbia and Ukraine) Africa(Malaya, Nigeria, Tunisia and Zimbabwe the caribbean(pictures in our gallery) We had the local radio service Bradford city Broadcasting(BCB) in attendance to see the community of Bradford working and showing cohesion through sport. It was estimated well over 500 people were supporting the tournament not including the teams. We had David Ward MP supporting the event and distrubuting the medals of the winners and runners up. incidently the winning team was Jamacia beating Palestine in the final on penalties. The hole day was succes for community cohesion. SCAR got many of the teams not already in organised leagues a governance for their clubs and helped them with funding to actually part fund their teams expenses. The tournament was funded by Awards for All(Big Lottery)
